Today, I had the honor of spending two hours talking about birds to a precious group of second graders and their four teachers at my former school, Carson Elementary. After being out of the classroom for 5 years, I was feeling exhilarated and experiencing a true natural high. That ended the minute I arrived home to the news of the school tragedy in Uvalde. We have to get to a point were these events move us to make changes that will prevent them. It breaks my heart to know that all those precious second graders I spent time with this morning went home to hear about it, too. How terrifying their world must suddenly seem.
