Playing with Bard

Bard is the amazing new artificial intelligence experiment from Google. I’ve been playing with it for a while now. Today I asked it to write a poem using this prompt:

Write a poem about a feral parakeet named Woody who survives the winter by visiting Jim Baker’s backyard feeders.

This is what it came up with:

Woody

The last of summer's warmth has fled,
The leaves have fallen from the trees,
And Woody, a feral parakeet,
Flies south to winter in the breeze.

But Woody knows a secret place,
A warm and cozy home away,
Where Jim Baker, with a kind heart,
Leaves food for Woody every day.

In winter's chill, when all is bleak,
When snow and ice have covered all,
Woody comes to Jim Baker's yard,
To feast on seeds and nuts and call.

And Jim Baker, when he hears the call,
Knows that Woody's safe and warm,
And smiles, knowing that he's helped
A little creature through the storm.

So Woody and Jim Baker, friends
Through winter's cold and summer's heat,
Share food and warmth and friendship,
And each is richer for the treat.
